Our elders have overall responsibility for oversight and direction of the church. They are to seek, in all matters, the mind of Christ (who is the Head of the Church) through the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God. They must be able to teach and exhort the church in sound doctrine and refute those who contradict the truth. Elders are to lead by example and will provide instruction for the maintenance of healthy relationships within the church. They appoint deacons or ministers as is necessary to accomplish the mission of the church.
“It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he aspires to do.”
Wherever special ministry tasks were needed, since the beginning of the church, servant leaders (deacons) were appointed to carry out those tasks. As in Acts 6, where people of “good reputation, full of wisdom and the Holy Spirit” were appointed to the task of caring for neglected Grecian widows, our servant leaders assume responsibility for numerous ministry tasks and oversee many physical needs of our congregation.
"For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus."

Shawn Deree is our minister, and his wife is Christy. We are excited to have Shawn and his family join us in building up the church for the Lord here in Fairview.
The minister does more than one might think. He does more than preach on Sundays and Wednesday nights. There is a certain active and caring heart that plays a role in his life, which pushes him to reach out to church members and people in the community in need of prayer, motivation, strength and most importantly the path to salvation.
Matt Hudgins has been working with the youth in various capacities for several years. During this time he and Kristy have demonstrated their willingness to work with the youth and the character necessary to be examples to our young people.
The youth minister is designated to do just as the title implies… minister actively to our congregation’s youth and their friends. Although organizing events, class schedules, overseeing the youth groups, balancing the youth group budget, and planning opportunities for the youth to get to know each other and serve the congregation is an important part of his responsibilities. A far more vital role is his direct interaction with our youth. Making sure all the youth have opportunities to grow stronger together in Christ and feel that they have someone besides their parents to discuss what ever needs or concerns they may have.
